Legends Tour heads to Formby for PGA Seniors Championship -

The season is well underway as some of the biggest names on the European senior circuit prepare for the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship later this month, hosted by Formby Golf Club and Formby Ladies Golf Club.

This popular Legends Tour event will see an action-packed five days of golfing action at one of England’s most revered stretches of linksland. On Wednesday, August 24, the fourth Celebrity Series event of the season will tee off as familiar names such as Liverpool football club icons Sir Kenny Dalglish and Robbie Fowler, British TV broadcaster Dan Walker and snooker legend and Formby member John Parrott take part in an entertaining day of golf.


SENIORS STARS TEEING IT UP


Greats of the game including former European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley and Major winner Michael Campbell will then battle it out over four rounds at Formby as they compete for the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship.

The 2022 Staysure PGA Seniors Championship is returning to the venue where it was played in 2021. Paul Broadhurst was victorious at the event, winning by one stroke over fellow Englishman John Bickerton and Thomas Levet from France.

CELEBRITIES TAKING TO THE LINKS


Formby Golf Club & Formby Ladies Golf Club will welcome some of the biggest names from the world of sport and entertainment.

For the Formby showpiece, England cricketing greats Darren Gough and Steve Harmison will join former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew, along with National Hunt jockeys Sir AP McCoy and Ruby Walsh.

Former rugby stalwarts Will Greenwood and Gavin Hastings will play in the event, as will seven-time snooker world champion Stephen Hendry.

Liverpool football club icons Sir Kenny Dalglish, Robbie Fowler and Alan Hansen had already been confirmed for the Celebrity Series, along with Formby member John Parrot, while broadcaster Dan Walker will also be in attendance.
